- Enrolled in a post-graduate program in Computer Engineering. Masters or Phd candidates strongly preferred
- Coursework in networking, logic design, analog circuit design, computer architecture, data structures is required
- Completion of at least two undergraduate courses in circuit theory, required
- Understanding of automotive networking communication protocols (CAN, LIN, Ethernet), automotive wiring technologies, required
- Proficiency in Python, Shell Scripting is required
- Interest in vehicle manufacturing and assembly processes, preferred
- Must be located in Champaign, IL
- Must be available for 10-20 hours per week in the Fall and Spring, and 40 hours in the Summer
- Must be available for weekly task status update meetings, and monthly project status update calls
- Research new communication protocols for automotive vehicles to minimize communication gateways
- Analyze endpoint/edge signal groupings where an ECU may consolidate interfaces
- Determine the complexity of edge computing and how much horsepower is required to process the interfaces at the edge
- Review the factory installation requirements for ECUs & harnesses. What are the tradeoffs of larger/small harnesses vs. less/more ECUs?
