Requirements
  • 5+ years experience managing teams who have shipped and support scalable production systems
  • 5+ years experience in software engineering roles
  • High-agency: Self-motivated to lead your teams, encourage best practices, and constantly improve
  • Effective interpersonal, leadership, and communication skills
  • Demonstrated experience leading fullstack engineering teams delivering high-performance systems using React, Typescript, and Go
  • Bachelor's degree in engineering or equivalent real world experience
Responsibilities
  • Direct management of a talented team of fullstack engineers building the Remote Assistance frontend and backend services
  • Work with Engineering Director(s), Product Managers, and Technical Program Managers to create and execute on a roadmap for your team
  • Promote software engineering best practices
  • Conduct performance reviews, identify top performers, and support their growth into Technical Leadership or Engineering Management roles
  • Foster a healthy, collaborative culture and high-output team
  • Help define, build, and embody Cruise engineering culture and principles
  • Invest heavily in recruiting by working closely with recruiters, screening candidates, and creating opportunities for external engagement to improve the Cruise engineering brand
Desired Qualifications
  • Experience with wide-area remote control of robots. (e.g., Autonomous Vehicles, Drones, Remote Surgery Robots, etc.)
  • Experience building or managing performance and safety critical systems or similar
  • Experience with realtime media streaming, especially WebRTC
  • Experience working with React/Redux
  • Experience working with WebGL
