Job Description

Western Digital’s Test Process Engineering (TPE) team seeks a New College Graduate to join its Manufacturing Code Development > Staging and Architecture team located in Irvine, CA. The candidate will participate in the design and implementation of Host Application software as well as Manufacturing Firmware features within an advanced development environment with tools based on C++ and Python/TCl/Perl scripts.

There will be opportunities to explore Machine Learning, Secure Drive technology, and/or other advanced techniques aimed at improving factory efficiency.

The candidate should have good working knowledge of Software, Firmware, Object-Oriented Embedded Programming, and System Interlock design. Another key asset is knowledge of the SAFe Development process, specifically as a Product Owner or Scrum Master. The candidate’s skillset should include a problem-solving mindset, strong verbal and written communication, and the ability to thrive in a team environment. Domestic and/or international travel may be required.

Candidates who do not require relocation to the Irvine, CA area will be prioritized. 

Qualifications

• MS degree in Computer Engineering, Computer Science, Electrical Engineering, or related field with graduation date between December 2023 and June 2024. 
• Foundational understanding of Software and Firmware design and implementation
• C / C++ programming experience, including script programming (e.g., TCL, Python, Perl)
• Familiarity with hardware debug instrumentation, such as oscilloscopes and bus analyzers
• Ability to contribute to the development of validation/test plans and anticipate test points in advance of feature design
• Familiarity with multiple Code Management systems, including SVN, GIT/GERRIT/JENKINS
• Aptitude for problem solving and analysis, using systematic methodology
• Good team player with good oral and written communication skills
• Ability to organize tasks and deliverables efficiently, for each assigned project
• Right to work in the US without requiring Western Digital to commence or sponsor an immigration case in order to employ you at any point in the future (for example, H-1B or other employment-based immigration case)
