  • Bachelor’s Degree in Materials Science or related field with 7+ years of industry experience
  • Expertise in material selection with broad understanding of plastics, metals, platings & coatings
  • Experience in failure analysis and materials testing and characterization
  • Experience designing feature enabling solutions that employ novel materials
  • Cross-functional experience implementing manufacturable solutions
Responsibilities
  • Guide material characterization and selection within the mechanical design team
  • Work with the Reliability team to design, prototype, and test critical seals and dissimilar material interfaces present in our system to ensure performance and long-term reliability
  • Ensure materials and designs are performant across product life in the presence of thermal, electrical, chemical, and physical exposures
  • Lead the design teams’ root cause analysis of materials compatibility failures
  • Participate early in the design process for new cell, module, and enclosure designs to influence material selection and test/validation planning
  • Define metrology processes for QC of materials through the production flow
  • Collaborate with the compliance team to ensure selected materials meet all safety and end use requirements
