Requirements
  • Graduation from high school or a General Education Development certificate, and three years of administrative experience in an office environment, or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Good knowledge of English spelling, grammar, punctuation, and office procedures.
  • Skill in operating a personal computer, typewriter, and other office equipment.
  • Ability to accurately enter data and file information, work independently, organize, compile, and record information accurately, operate a personal computer and basic office equipment, and establish and maintain effective working relationships with co-workers, County employees, and the general public.
  • Must secure and maintain a favorable background investigation and clearance.
  • Must secure and maintain a pre-employment physical and pre-employment drug screen test.
  • May be required to work more than 40 hours during the workweek.
  • Must be able to move items weighing up to 15 pounds occasionally, move about the office, communicate accurately, operate a computer and other office productivity machinery, position oneself to perform essential functions, and remain in a stationary position.
Responsibilities
  • Prepare and type moderately complex letters and memos using a personal computer, typewriter, or word processor.
  • Maintain statistics and develop complex reports.
  • Maintain and update personnel records, including attendance records.
  • Assist with budget preparation and related accounting functions.
  • Enter and update data on a personal computer or CRT using spreadsheet or database applications.
  • Answer telephones, route calls, and take messages using discretion and tact.
  • Develop and maintain files.
  • Copy information and distribute it to the appropriate location.
  • Respond to general and complex questions and complaints regarding the department or work.
  • Supervise, lead, or train administrative or clerical support personnel as needed.
  • Order and maintain supplies as needed.
  • Open and distribute mail as needed.
  • Perform related duties as required.
