Requirements
  • High School Diploma or equivalent GED.
  • Ability to obtain certification and training required by the Secretary of State Bureau of Elections.
  • Two years of experience working for an election support company.
  • Possession of a valid Michigan driver’s license.
  • Candidates must pass a drug screen, including testing for THC, in order to be hired for this position.
Responsibilities
  • Receive voter registration applications from various sources, prepare reports to the State, and monitor reimbursements.
  • Develop and update contracts and coordinating agreements while serving as the school districts election coordinator for all schools within the Allegan Area Educational Service Agency.
  • Assist candidates and treasurers of campaign committees with compliance and disclosure requirements of the Michigan Campaign Finance Act.
  • Accept candidate filings for State Office, County Office, and School Board and review them for compliance.
  • Maintain logs for petitions and filing fees for review after the primary and maintain all election results.
  • Maintain the State Qualified Voter File and county voter registration database for each election.
  • Schedule Election Commission meetings and take minutes.
  • Monitor election-schedule deadlines to ensure meetings are held according to requirements for each election.
  • Determine the required format for reporting and canvassing forms for the permanent record and prepare compliant reports.
  • Monitor the filing of Acceptance of Office forms for school board candidates.
  • Verify the correct programming and operation of voting system equipment and provide training as needed.
  • Communicate verbally and in writing with entities requesting election information, including media outlets, and provide training for election workers.
Desired Qualifications
  • One year of experience with a local clerk’s office.
  • Associate’s Degree in technology or a closely related field.
