Requirements
  • A bachelor's degree from a top-tier school.
  • Experience in education through classroom teaching or significant tutoring.
  • The ability to teach all sections of the ACT and SAT.
  • Strong customer service skills and comfort communicating with high school students and parents, individually and in groups.
  • Detail-oriented work ensuring accuracy and precision in all communications.
  • Intermediate skills in Google Docs, Sheets, and Slides.
  • A valid driver's license.
  • The ability to work evenings and/or weekends.
  • Passion for working with high-school-aged students.
  • The ability to work with limited supervision and be accountable for results.
Responsibilities
  • Speak with prospective students and families about Galin Education services.
  • Assist in matching students with tutors.
  • Set up students and families with materials and digital tools.
  • Track student sessions, practice exams, and other milestones in the internal customer relationship management system.
  • Communicate with students and families about important SAT and ACT deadlines.
  • Coordinate proctors for practice exams and foster a positive in-office test preparation experience.
  • Assist with evaluating potential tutors and coaches.
  • Meet with new tutors throughout their onboarding.
  • Mentor tutors in pedagogy and communication best practices.
  • Respond to tutor questions and needs.
  • Assist with monthly test preparation tutor trainings.
  • Monitor tutor lesson notes to identify areas requiring immediate support.
  • Tutor and coach at least 15 sessions per week.
  • Communicate regularly with students' families regarding student progress.
  • Create, curate, and collaborate on curriculum development projects.
  • Review ACT and SAT exams to help develop curriculum materials.
  • Deliver talks to small groups of parents in person and virtually.
  • Work with schools and counselors to educate them about test preparation and tutoring services.
Desired Qualifications
  • A master's degree from a top-tier school.
  • A score roughly at or above the 95th percentile on either the ACT or SAT.
  • An entrepreneurial mindset and the ability to multitask, set priorities, and manage time.
  • A sense of humor.
