Requirements
  • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, Software Engineering, or a related field. In the absence of a bachelor’s degree, a minimum of 7 years of relevant professional experience is required.
  • At least 3 years of relevant professional experience in a similar role.
  • Professional proficiency in English, both written and spoken, with the ability to work effectively in an international technical environment and produce clear technical documentation and communications.
  • Eligibility to obtain and maintain required security and export control clearances/compliance, including ITAR/EIR-related requirements.
  • Strong experience administering Linux systems (particularly Red Hat-based distributions), including installation, patching, monitoring, troubleshooting, and automation.
  • Knowledge of additional Unix-like systems such as BSD or Solaris is considered an advantage.
  • Solid software development skills in a Linux environment, with proficiency in at least one of C++, Python, or shell, and the ability to develop, maintain, and troubleshoot tools and applications supporting operational systems.
  • Ability to support technical users in complex engineering environments.
  • Experience assisting developers with build, debugging, and software environment issues.
Responsibilities
  • Provide technical support and troubleshooting for Flight Dynamics Platform in an on-site customer environment.
  • Interact with Flight Dynamics engineers and communicate effectively with both technical and non-technical stakeholders.
  • Develop, test, and maintain supporting tools, scripts, and system software components as needed.
  • Contribute to the operational readiness and reliability of Linux and FreeBSD based systems.
  • Participate in a team with complementary expertise including software engineering, build and configuration control, automation, storage technologies, networking, security, and operational support.
  • Be available for critical mission activities, launch campaigns, simulations, system tests, contingency support, and possibly on-call rotations.
  • Work primarily on-site at ESOC Darmstadt with occasional teleworking near the customer site when operationally feasible.
  • Assist in IT security and export control compliance as part of daily operations.
  • Provide end-user support and training as required.
  • Prepare clear technical documentation and communications for stakeholders.
Desired Qualifications
  • Experience in infrastructure automation, configuration management, and Infrastructure-as-Code tools (e.g. Ansible, CI/CD systems).
  • Linux networking, system security, hardening, authentication systems, and vulnerability management (e.g. SELinux, FreeIPA/LDAP).
  • Storage, filesystem, and distributed storage technologies, particularly ZFS.
  • Virtualization, container technologies, and high-availability infrastructure platforms.
  • Enterprise and mission-critical operational environments, including operational support or space mission support systems.
  • Scientific or engineering computing environments.
  • Familiarity with enterprise server hardware, out-of-band management (e.g. Intelligent Platform Management Interface, IPMI), and provisioning.
  • Experience with Unix operating systems such as FreeBSD or Solaris.
  • Willingness to obtain and maintain security and export control clearances as required.
  • Ability to quickly adapt to evolving technologies and operational requirements.

Sopra Steria returns to growth in Q4, net profit up 18% to $336M

Sopra Steria Group reported 2025 revenue of €5.65 billion, down 2.2% year-on-year, though the company returned to organic growth of 1.8% in the fourth quarter. Net profit attributable to the Group rose 18.3% to €296.8 million, with operating margin on business activity at 9.5%. The European IT services firm saw strong performance in strategic sectors including defence, aeronautics, public sector and financial services. AI-related business surged, with the number of French clients launching AI projects rising 44% and AI consultants increasing 50%. Free cash flow reached €340.9 million, representing 6% of revenue. Net financial debt fell 35.4% to €246.7 million. The company will propose a dividend of €5.30 per share, up from €4.65 previously. For 2026, Sopra Steria targets organic revenue growth of 1% to 2% and an operating margin of at least 9.5%.
