Sonepar celebrates america's 250th with free lighting upgrades for VFW Posts.

Sonepar celebrates america's 250th with free lighting upgrades for VFW Posts. VFW posts serving veterans and their families will benefit from lower energy costs and improved atmosphere thanks to Sonepar's Bright Lights Brighter Futures program. Charleston, S.C.-based Sonepar has identified 14 Veterans of Foreign Wars (VFW) posts across the country to receive free LED lighting upgrades as part of Sonepar's Bright Lights Brighter Futures program. This year's program is focused on VFW locations in celebration of the 250th anniversary of the USA. Energy-efficient LED lighting will help the VFW posts save money on utility bills, reduce energy consumption, and improve the appearance and safety of their buildings. "Supporting the VFW is a meaningful way to give back to those who have served our country," said Bill Mortimer, Director Strategic Vendor Engagement at Sonepar USA and program lead for the Bright Lights Brighter Futures program. "These upgrades help create more welcoming spaces for veterans to come together and find camaraderie and community." Sonepar will cover installation costs, partnering with national electrical contractor PSG Energy Services to complete installation. Acuity Brands and Cooper Lighting are donating lighting fixtures and materials, while TerraCycle Regulated Waste will provide compliant lamp recycling services for old fixtures. "The Veterans of Foreign Wars is deeply grateful to Sonepar for its generous support in helping bring new, energy-efficient lighting to VFW Posts across the country," stated Carol Whitmore, VFW National Commander. "Our Posts serve as gathering places for veterans, their families and their communities, and these upgrades will help create safer, more welcoming spaces. On behalf of the VFW, we sincerely thank Sonepar for its commitment to strengthening our Posts and the communities they serve." The following VFW posts have been nominated for retrofits, to be completed by October through their respective local Sonepar brand as noted below: - Capital Electric: Walter N. Brownell VFW Post 3137 in Isle of Palms, SC - Codale: VFW Post 7398 in Magna, UT - Cooper Electric: Clark-Moetz VFW Post 2319 in Milltown, NJ - Crawford Electric: VFW Post 6173 in Brookside, AL - Echo Electric: 2801 Dean Ave Post 7911 in Des Moines, IA - Irby: Roy F. A single Bright Lights Brighter Futures project in 2025 was shown to reduce annual energy use by more than 23,000 kWh, which will avoid approximately 16 metric tons of CO[2] emissions per year. Bright Lights Brighter Futures was launched in 2023 and promotes Sonepar's global Purpose, Powering Progress for Future Generations. By the end of the 2026 program year, Sonepar companies will have completed 46 lighting retrofits providing more than $600,000 in installation services and lighting products to community non-profits nationwide.

Sonepar announces the deployment of two major sustainability initiatives at the ChangeNOW summit.

Sonepar announces the deployment of two major sustainability initiatives at the ChangeNOW summit. 26.03.2026 Paris, March 26, 2026 - Sonepar, the world leader in B2B distribution of electrical equipment, solutions, and services, will take part for the first time in the ChangeNOW summit, the world's largest event dedicated to solutions for the planet, held from March 30 to April 1, 2026, at the Grand Palais in Paris. On this occasion, the Group is unveiling two major initiatives designed to accelerate the promotion of sustainable solutions in the electrical distribution sector and support its customers in managing their carbon footprint and reducing their environmental impact. Launch of the Product Carbon footprint assessment tool Building on its first solution deployed in 2023, Sonepar is announcing the launch of Product Carbon, its new tool for measuring the carbon footprint of products. The tool relies on manufacturer-reported data when available, or on estimates produced using an AI-powered CO[2] emissions modeling algorithm. Product-level carbon information is already available on the Group's e-commerce platforms in Belgium and Finland for products covered by the Product Carbon tool. The Group will soon take another step forward: in addition to carbon data, further environmental information will be requested from suppliers to provide customers with more accurate environmental indicators and enable them to integrate environmental criteria into their purchasing decisions. Expanded sustainability training portfolio Sonepar is also expanding its training portfolio to strengthen its sales teams' expertise in promoting the most responsible solutions. With this initiative, Sonepar aims to have the best-trained sales professionals in the electrical distribution sector when it comes to promoting sustainable solutions and effectively supporting customers' transition efforts. The Group has invited its suppliers to share their training modules focused on sustainable products and solutions. From these contributions, by June 2026, Sonepar will select the most relevant modules to complement its internal program which will be mandatory for all sales teams. The goal is twofold: ensuring a consistent and high level of expertise across the Group and enabling customers to benefit from comprehensive support, based on a strong understanding of environmental challenges. "Participating for the first time in the ChangeNOW summit marks an important milestone for our Group. This flagship event offers us an opportunity to publicly reaffirm our commitments and engage with all stakeholders involved in the energy transition. Sonepar intends to position itself as a true influencer in promoting the most sustainable solutions in the electrical distribution sector. To achieve this, we act across the entire value chain, in partnership with our suppliers, by mobilizing and training our associates, and in service of our customers," said Jessica Lam, SVP Sustainability. Practical information Jessica Lam will speak at a panel discussion on Tuesday, March 31 at 9:30 a.m. on the theme: "Engaging all Stakeholders across the Value Chain."
