Requirements
  • A high school diploma or GED is required.
  • A valid driver’s license and motor vehicle record compliant with Beck Suppliers’ insurance requirements are required.
  • Five years of commercial heating, ventilation, air conditioning, and refrigeration troubleshooting, maintenance, and repair experience are required.
  • Three years of general facility maintenance experience, including preventive maintenance, electrical, plumbing, store equipment, and building repairs, are required.
  • EPA Type 2 or Universal certification is required.
  • Experience processing and documenting work orders using computerized maintenance management systems or similar software is required.
  • Proficiency with Outlook, Word, and Excel is required.
  • Professional communication skills are required when interacting with supervisors, vendors, subcontractors, and store personnel.
  • Organizational and time-management skills are required, including managing multiple assignments and meeting established deadlines.
  • Demonstrated reliability, accountability, and adherence to established procedures and safety requirements are required.
  • The ability to walk, stand, bend, stoop, kneel, squat, climb, and balance is required.
  • The ability to lift, carry, push, and pull materials and equipment weighing up to 90 pounds is required.
  • Frequent use of hands for operating tools, equipment, and controls is required.
  • The ability to communicate verbally with vendors, contractors, and team members is required.
  • The ability to work in indoor and outdoor environmental conditions, including hot and cold temperatures and varying weather conditions, is required.
  • The ability to work around moving mechanical parts, electrical hazards, elevated work locations, combustible materials, and other maintenance-related hazards is required.
  • The ability to travel between job sites throughout Ohio is required.
  • Participation in an after-hours on-call rotation, including responding to scheduled after-hours maintenance calls, is required.
Responsibilities
  • Troubleshoot general maintenance and HVAC/R issues at store and office locations and communicate with the Maintenance Coordinator about project nature, priority, safety requirements, and timelines.
  • Perform preventive maintenance and routine inspections on rooftop units, walk-in coolers and freezers, ice machines, beverage equipment, exhaust systems, and other refrigeration or climate-control equipment.
  • Diagnose equipment concerns, make authorized repairs within the scope of skill, and recommend vendor or subcontractor support when specialized service is required.
  • Perform assigned HVAC/R maintenance tasks efficiently, competently, and safely.
  • Maintain HVAC/R systems, fuel system support equipment, building repairs, millwork, store equipment, plumbing, electrical systems, lighting, signage, site maintenance, and other facility assets supporting convenience store operations.
  • Coordinate the dispatch of HVAC/R, refrigeration, electrical, plumbing, and equipment subcontractors with the Maintenance Coordinator and follow up to confirm work is completed correctly.
  • Follow the daily project schedule developed by the Maintenance Coordinator.
  • Communicate with the Maintenance Coordinator as needed about day-to-day issues affecting efficiency and utilization.
  • Submit required field activity reports according to Beck Suppliers’ procedures.
  • Coordinate with the Maintenance Coordinator and Purchasing Manager to plan parts and materials quantities and delivery dates when necessary.
  • Keep jobsite inventory neat and orderly.
  • Respond professionally to store teams, vendors, customers, and personnel; communicate clearly, follow through on commitments, and provide customer service.
  • Participate in required safety programs.
  • Cross-train and work with other Facilities division subdivisions as required.
  • Participate in after-hours on-call rotations.
  • Complete other assigned duties.
Desired Qualifications
  • Commercial HVAC/R troubleshooting, maintenance, and repair experience in convenience store, retail, commercial, or multi-site facility environments is preferred.
