Requirements
  • A minimum of five years of experience as a foreman, including experience with water and sewer installations, subdivision servicing, roadway construction, and urban renewal projects.
  • In-depth knowledge of construction procedures, equipment, and occupational health and safety guidelines.
  • Ability to read drawings, plans, and blueprints.
  • Ability to organize work and communicate and report effectively.
  • Extensive knowledge of urban subdivision grading or industrial grading.
  • Understanding of the safe operation of heavy equipment and material handling.
  • A valid driver's license and clean driver's abstract.
  • A personal reliable vehicle.
  • CSA-approved steel-toed boots with six-inch ankle support.
  • Successful completion of drug and alcohol testing, company orientation, and site-specific orientation.
Responsibilities
  • Allocate general and daily responsibilities.
  • Ensure manpower and resources are adequate.
  • Supervise the use of machinery and equipment.
  • Drive the quality, efficiency, and productivity of work crews and ensure crews have required tools, personal protective equipment, and emergency response measures.
  • Assess and confirm crew competency through documentation.
  • Identify equipment and labor resource requirements and their utilization.
  • Adhere to project and company environmental considerations.
  • Complete daily activity reports and logs.
  • Work with project management to schedule and coordinate work tasks.
  • Coordinate with subcontractor foremen as required on the jobsite.
  • Coordinate with shallow utility locators and ensure crews understand the locations of buried utilities.
  • Submit progress reports to ensure projects remain on track with contractual deadlines.
  • Comply with the principles of the company's Code of Ethics and examine situations in light of those principles.
  • Provide other technical and administrative support as required.
  • Promote a team approach and maintain dialogue with employees to exchange information and gather ideas.
  • Conduct daily and weekly safety meetings and inspections.
  • Take corrective action to mitigate immediate hazards.
  • Conduct incident investigations and immediately prepare supporting documentation.
  • Promote, execute, and adhere to the company's safety program and encourage employees, subcontractors, and consultants to adopt a safety culture.
