- The technician must be able to use a computer to search for technical bulletins or other technical information.
- The technician must provide their own tools; manufacturer-specific and special tools will be supplied by the dealer for shared use.
- ASE certification is preferred.
- The technician must supply their own OSHA-approved footwear.
- Perform work listed on repair orders, including oil changes, tune-ups, checking or replacing fluid levels, and tire rotations, efficiently and accurately according to dealership and factory standards.
- Diagnose the causes of malfunctions and perform repairs using testing and diagnostic equipment, communicating with the parts department to obtain needed parts.
- Save and tag parts from a job when the work is under warranty or when requested by the customer.
- Examine assigned vehicles to determine whether additional safety or service work is required or recommended using checklists.
- Immediately communicate with the service advisor and customers when additional work is needed, listed work is unnecessary, or repairs cannot be completed within the promised time, and provide labor and time estimates for additional work.
- Document all work performed and recommended on repair orders.
- Road-test vehicles when required or refer them to the test technician.
- Participate in manufacturer-sponsored training programs, schools, and events.
- Keep current with manufacturer technical bulletins.
- Supervise apprentice technicians' work when assigned.
- Report machinery defects or malfunctions to the supervisor.
- Keep customers' cars clean and immediately notify the service advisor of anything that changes the vehicle's appearance or condition.
- Keep the shop area neat and clean.
- Maintain and account for dealership-owned tools and manuals, returning them to their proper place and condition.
- Understand, keep current with, and comply with federal, state, and local regulations, including hazardous-waste disposal and OSHA Right-to-Know requirements.
- Operate all tools and equipment safely.
- Immediately report safety issues to management.

This strategic move broadens KAC's product range to include five additional brands (Chevrolet, GMC, Buick, Nissan, and Cadillac).
