Requirements
  • Bachelor’s Degree in computer science or a related discipline required (Master’s Degree preferred), or equivalent experience.
  • 12+ years of experience in software architecture, design and development of cloud-native technology and services that enable the creation and management of solutions in the cloud.
  • Strong experience with the monitoring and alerting of infrastructure and applications.
  • Hands-on knowledge and domain expertise in Observability, with explicit experience with Grafana and AWS observability technologies, as well as experience with other leader vendors in demonstrating breadth and depth of knowledge and skills in this domain; preferably with systems and services running in AWS.
  • Solid understanding of GitHub, Terraform, Docker, and Kubernetes (EKS), Kafka, AWS Lambda, and software development and delivery tools.
  • Proven hands-on development experience with Python and familiarity with Java, Ruby, NodeJS, React and/or other programming languages, design patterns, and frameworks.
  • Highly analytical mindset, with an ability to see both the big picture and the details.
  • Experience in leading a geographically dispersed team by setting clear expectations and measurable deliverables, to ultimately meet organizational and team commitments.
  • Ability to think long-term, envision target states, and work towards achieving the target state iteratively.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills.
Responsibilities
  • Build strong cross-functional relationships across OpenGov to define the team’s strategy, roadmap, and priorities and lead the team in the quarterly delivery of integrated capabilities and value to the organization.
  • Deliver the developer experience services, such as CI/CD tools and processes, that enable engineers to continuously deliver fully tested and integrated features into production.
  • Provide devops tools and capabilities that enable engineering teams to monitor and operate their products in the cloud with minimal effort, through the use of cloud management and automation tools that alleviate the manual burden that would otherwise slow the team in the delivery of new features and capabilities.
  • Establish insights into the experience of our customers, providing advanced notifications with data to quickly resolve issues, leveraging AI technology to prevent and rapidly mitigate issues.
  • Deliver a single pane of glass to provide insights into the health of the site and into our customers' experience.
  • Build teams of engineering domain experts, technologists, and enthusiasts, providing hands-on mentoring and development of staff through direct engagement in the architecture, design and implementation of solutions.
  • Build a community of practice, where your team provides the seeds of innovation and collaboration, where the organization can collectively contribute and accelerate the delivery of capabilities.
  • Provide on call rotation and support for an always on and available platform.
  • Take a data/metric-driven approach to identify gaps in processes, frameworks, etc. and provide tactical solutions.
