North Little Rock HVAC company Powers sells four territorial divisions. 47 minutes ago NLR's Powers sells 4 territorial divisions North Little Rock-based Powers, a heating, ventilation and air conditioning company, announced Thursday that it sold four territorial divisions to Albireo Energy. The sale includes divisions in Alabama, Mississippi, Louisiana and Oklahoma. It does not include Powers' Arkansas division, its federal projects and national business accounts, according to a news release. "This is an exciting milestone for our Mississippi, Oklahoma, Louisiana and Alabama divisions," Powers Chief Executive Officer Alan Hope said in the release. "It reflects strong customer relationships and the work of exceptional people who built these divisions over the past seven years and earned a reputation for delivering long-term quality, service, safety and value." Albireo Energy is a New Jersey-based building controls and energy services provider, the news release said. Powers is Arkansas' largest privately owned HVAC company. - Gabe White Hytrol gives A-State $500,000 for center Hytrol Conveyor Co. has given $500,000 to Arkansas State University to help with the construction of the Career Readiness Education and Skills Training Center. Construction of the project will come in three phases, with the first phase completed by spring 2027, with classes beginning that fall, according to a news release. The first phase, a 26,000-square-foot facility, will cost approximately $18 million. When completed, the center is designed to cover 70,000-square-feet. "CREST was never intended to be something A-State could build alone," Interim Chancellor Calvin White Jr. said in the news release. "Its success depends upon bringing education and industry together around a common goal: creating more opportunities for the people of Northeast Arkansas while building the workforce needed for the future." With the gift, Hytrol was named a founding industry partner and the ASU System Board of Trustees named the primary workforce training area of the center the Hytrol Workforce Training Room. "Our future is tied to this region," said Philip Poston, chief administrative officer at Hytrol, "and we believe that one of the most important investments that we can make is in the people that drive that future." - Gabe White Index dips by 15.91, ends day at 1,155.11 The Arkansas Index, a price-weighted index that tracks the largest public companies based in the state, closed Thursday at 1,155.11, down 15.91 points. KYIV, Ukraine (AP) - Russia unleashed a massive combined attack on Kyiv early Friday, sparking fires and scattering debris across many districts of the capital, Mayor Vitali Klitschko said. At least 11 people were injured as emergency crews responded to multiple strikes, he said in a statement. Five people were hospitalized, including one man in critical condition and a pregnant woman, after a series of powerful explosions sounded in the city and airs defenses were activated. The attack on the capital was ongoing, officials said, urging residents to remain in shelters until the air raid alert is lifted. City authorities warned that power and water outages are possible. In the Darnytskyi district, debris landed in the yard of a residential building and on the grounds of an educational facility. A car caught fire after being hit by falling fragments. In the Dniprovskyi district, debris damaged three apartment buildings, a private household and caused a fire in an open area. In the Podilskyi district, five residential buildings and a nonresidential structure were damaged. In the Shevchenkivskyi district, falling debris sparked a fire in an open area near a medical facility and inside a nonresidential building. In the Holosiivskyi district, debris ignited a fire at a medical facility and damaged another nonresidential building. In the Desnianskyi district, fires were recorded in two residential buildings. In the Solomianskyi district, a fire broke out on the roof of a residential building. In the Sviatoshynskyi district, debris caused a fire in a private home. In the Kyiv region, Russian strikes damaged critical infrastructure and private homes, injuring at least one civilian, regional head Mykola Kalashnyk said. A 55-year-old man in Bila Tserkva suffered thermal burns and was hospitalized, he said. Fires broke out in private houses in the capital's suburbs. The strike came as European Union officials warned this week that Ukraine must continue to crack down on corruption following a major graft scandal that has put top nuclear energy officials under scrutiny. But they also offered assurances that aid will continue to flow as Kyiv strains to hold back Russia's invasion.
