Requirements
- Graduation from an accredited school of nursing and possession of a valid Licensed Practical Nurse license in good standing according to state and federal requirements.
- Thorough understanding of safe and effective nursing practices within the State of Indiana.
- Basic computer skills and knowledge of programs such as Excel and Word.
- Personal integrity and the ability to deal tactfully with residents, family members, visitors, government agencies, and personnel.
Responsibilities
- Provide daily care for residents' health needs, safety, and comfort, including professional assessments and documentation.
- Assist with management of the assigned nursing unit's staff.
- Supervise, perform, and provide written or verbal care assignments, routine skills, and procedures to ensure quality resident care.
- Participate in developing and implementing resident care plans, maintain current nursing care plans, document progress, and recommend revisions according to facility policy and procedure.
- Make daily and periodic visits to observe symptoms and reactions to medications or treatments.
- Obtain and document vital signs, intake and output, weights, diet supplements and replacements, cultures, and related clinical information.
- Assist with staff orientation and ongoing training to maintain required skill levels.
- Report and document resident or visitor incidents, accidents, complaints, or allegations according to facility policy and procedure using the designated occurrence reporting system.
