Requirements
  • Bachelor’s degree in Occupational Safety, Engineering, Construction Management, or related discipline (Master’s degree preferred)
  • Minimum 15 years of progressive safety management experience
  • At least 5 years in a leadership role
  • Professional certifications such as Certified Safety Professional or equivalent, and ability to obtain and/or maintain certifications in states with active projects
  • Willingness to obtain professional certification in foreign countries
  • Experience with ISO 9000 is advantageous
  • Proven track record of developing and implementing successful programs in a multi-site environment
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills
  • Highly organized with strong attention to detail and ability to manage multiple priorities
  • Ability to collaborate with cross-functional teams to develop and execute project plans for safety improvement initiatives
  • Bachelor’s degree in Occupational Safety or related; Master’s preferred
  • Safety management experience in heavy civil construction or engineering environment
Responsibilities
  • Align the organization, staffing, focus, skills, and training with company values, objectives, and strategies
  • Ensure all work produced by reporting staff meets risk management requirements
  • Accountable for quality assurance and quality control on projects per client requirements and/or company policy
  • Review and maintain Delve Underground Health and Safety Policies in accordance with legislative guidelines in the countries we operate in
  • Collaborate with management to develop, prepare, and implement safety policies and procedures
  • Appraise and implement new safety regulations as they relate to Delve Underground operations
  • Participate in the development of the Health and Safety Committee
  • Conduct training sessions on Health and Safety related content
  • Provide counseling and intervention to correct hazardous, at risk, or non-compliant work activities
  • Oversee Site Safety and Security Reviews as requested by Project Managers or Regional Managers
  • Recommend safety solutions, improvement opportunities, and new prevention measures
  • Report on health and safety awareness, issues, and statistics
  • Evaluate and maintain compliance documentation
  • Oversee response to incident scenes and assist with incident investigations when required
Desired Qualifications
  • ISO 45001 certification or implementation experience
  • Experience with audit programs and corrective action tracking
  • Experience with incident investigation and root cause analysis
  • Experience with contractor safety management and safety program development for multi-site environments
