Requirements
  • A minimum of 5 years of hotel sales experience, ideally in the British Columbia corporate and association market.
  • Proven ability to build relationships and find new business through prospecting, networking, site inspections, and sales calls.
  • Skilled negotiation abilities with strong verbal and written communication skills and attention to detail.
  • Computer literacy, including Opera and Microsoft Office.
  • Excellent time management skills.
  • Must be legally eligible to work in Canada.
  • Must hold a valid passport to travel internationally, including to the United States.
Responsibilities
  • Prospect, nurture, develop, and book group business across all segments within a defined territory.
  • Build, maintain, and report on a sales pipeline through various sales activities.
  • Exceed personal monthly, quarterly, and annual sales goals.
  • Collect market and competitive intelligence to maximize group sales opportunities.
  • Develop monthly sales strategies and action plans.
  • Build relationships with Accor Global Sales Offices, the Victoria Conference Centre, Tourism Victoria, destination management companies, attractions, and offsite venues.
  • Partner with regional and national sister hotels to optimize Fairmont Empress exposure and build incremental business.
  • Budget for, plan, and organize site inspections, familiarization trips, sales trips, and industry trade shows.
  • Travel for business to assigned territories, including Vancouver, Calgary, California, and Texas.
  • Use the Opera Sales System to track, solicit, book, and follow up on accounts.
  • Quote and negotiate rates within established parameters.
  • After closing, coordinate and follow up with convention services, catering, and other hotel departments to ensure delivery of promised hotel services.
  • Jointly manage the training and development of a Sales Representative/Coordinator.
  • Support the group sales team and handle special projects as assigned.
  • Participate in active training and development.
Desired Qualifications
  • A bachelor's degree and/or hotel management degree.
  • Financial aptitude.
  • Bilingual French and English language skills.
