Requirements
- Ability to work from home and travel to/between Umoja locations quarterly or as needed
Responsibilities
- Partner with scientific leaders to assess needs and identify opportunities to leverage data science, machine learning, and statistical techniques to gain insights and advance our scientific pipeline
- Build and oversee team of internal subject matter experts and external partners in data science, bioinformatics, computational biology, and statistics
- Establish and maintain/evolve standards and practices for analysis, visualization, and presentation of data
- Collaborate with scientists and engineers to advise on or assist with experimental design, statistical analyses and visualizations, and creation of pipelines to automate outputs
- Advise on Umoja's data strategy, architecture of software platforms, data standards, and data-related business processes and SOPs
- Provide support for regulatory submissions
- Provide oversight and direct support where possible on activities such as:
- In vivo model development and data analyses including identification of potential biomarkers
- Identification of process levers to help improve product output (yield, purity, potency)
- Integration and multivariate correlative analyses of data from Research, Tech Ops, and Clinical
- Leveraging internally or externally generated sequencing data
- MS or PhD in Data Science, Statistics, Mathematics or other closely-related field
- 10+ years of hands-on experience working with R&D and/or CMC data in life sciences (e.g., biopharma, healthcare, academia) organizations
- 5+ years of successfully building and managing teams and overseeing consultants
- Experience supporting regulatory submissions (INDs, BLAs, NDAs, etc.)
- Expertise in statistical analysis and visualization software such as R, JMP, SAS, Spotfire, Tableau
- Experience using machine learning and artificial intelligence to enable predictive analyses
- Experience developing end-to-end analytical pipelines and in scripting languages such as Python, SQL
Desired Qualifications
- Understanding of immuno-oncology or cell and gene therapy research and product development desired
- Direct wet lab experience in molecular biology, biochemistry or related field a plus
- Excellent oral and written communication skills as demonstrated by publications and presentations
- A track record of partnering cross-functionally with a wide range of stakeholders and cross-functional teams
- Ability to communicate complex technical topics simply and convincingly to a wide range of audiences
