Requirements
  • A valid state driver's license is required as dictated by job conditions or company policy.
  • A high school diploma or GED is required.
  • Two to four years of experience in Human Resources, workers’ compensation, leave administration, benefits administration, insurance, or a related field is preferred.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office, including Outlook, Word, and Excel, is required.
  • Knowledge of workers’ compensation claim processes and terminology is required.
  • Working knowledge of the Family and Medical Leave Act and other applicable leave requirements is required.
  • Familiarity with short-term and long-term disability processes is required.
  • Experience working with insurance carriers or third-party claims administrators is required.
  • Experience with human resources information systems, benefits, leave-management, or workers’ compensation systems is required.
  • References, a background check, and drug-screen testing are mandatory.
Responsibilities
  • Coordinate the administrative process for work-related injuries and illnesses in partnership with the Safety Department.
  • Review accident and injury information to ensure workers’ compensation documentation is complete and accurate.
  • Assist with initiating workers’ compensation claims with insurance carriers or third-party administrators.
  • Communicate with employees, supervisors, Safety personnel, medical providers, insurance representatives, and other involved parties about claim status and documentation.
  • Track workers’ compensation claims from initial report through resolution, including treatment, restrictions, transitional duty, and return-to-work status.
  • Maintain confidential workers’ compensation records, claim files, tracking reports, and documentation.
  • Monitor medical appointments, work restrictions, follow-up requirements, and anticipated return-to-work dates.
  • Coordinate modified or transitional duty opportunities with Safety and management.
  • Obtain and review medical documentation and work-status information related to occupational injuries.
  • Follow up on missing or incomplete information to ensure timely claim processing.
  • Administer employee leaves of absence, including medical, Family and Medical Leave Act, personal, military, and company-approved leaves.
  • Review leave requests and supporting documentation and determine applicable leave requirements.
  • Coordinate with HR leadership, employees, managers, leave vendors, and insurance providers.
  • Prepare and issue leave correspondence, forms, notices, and documentation.
  • Track leave dates, leave balances, certification and recertification deadlines, and expected return-to-work dates.
  • Communicate with employees about documentation, extensions, return-to-work requirements, and deadlines.
  • Coordinate with Payroll and HR on leave-related pay, benefits, and timekeeping.
  • Assist with accommodations and return-to-work processes.
  • Assist employees with short-term and long-term disability claim paperwork and processes.
  • Coordinate disability forms and documentation among employees, healthcare providers, insurance carriers, and the company.
  • Track disability claims and follow up on outstanding documentation or claim requirements.
  • Coordinate disability leave with applicable Family and Medical Leave Act, company leave, workers’ compensation, and return-to-work requirements.
  • Serve as a resource for employees and managers regarding workers’ compensation and leave processes.
  • Prepare reports and maintain tracking tools for workers’ compensation claims, leaves, disability claims, and return-to-work activity.
  • Assist with identifying trends related to workplace injuries, leave usage, and return-to-work processes.
  • Collaborate with HR, Safety, Payroll, Benefits, managers, and insurance providers.
  • Monitor applicable workers’ compensation, Family and Medical Leave Act, leave, and disability administration requirements.
  • Assist with audits and HR compliance activities related to leave and workers’ compensation administration.
  • Perform other assigned duties and responsibilities.
Desired Qualifications
  • A Professional in Human Resources certification is preferred.
  • An associate or bachelor's degree in Human Resources, Business Management, or a related field is preferred.
  • Experience in a construction, electrical, manufacturing, or other safety-sensitive industry is preferred.
  • Strong organizational and time-management skills for managing multiple cases and deadlines are preferred.
  • Experience handling confidential employee and medical information is preferred.
