Requirements
  • A bachelor's degree in engineering, physical sciences, or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Four years of relevant experience.
  • Preliminary knowledge of licensing and intellectual property principles, including preliminary licensing terms, targeted fundamentals of intellectual property, basic understanding of marketing methods, and intermediate negotiation knowledge.
  • Active participation in deal teams both as a deal lead and without being a deal lead.
  • Ability to provide recommendations and justifications on filing decisions with modest supervision.
  • Ability to independently manage a small- to mid-sized intellectual property portfolio.
Responsibilities
  • Cultivate and sustain deep relationships with university faculty and staff creators and developers of innovations in the College of Engineering.
  • Serve as a trusted advisor and liaison to faculty and staff creators in the areas of technology licensing and commercialization.
  • Identify university-owned innovations with commercial applications.
  • Evaluate the business case for university-owned innovations.
  • Prepare non-confidential summaries for marketing purposes.
  • Support the development and implementation of specific marketing strategies for innovations.
  • Participate in the negotiation of license and option agreements with new and existing partners.
Desired Qualifications
  • A master's degree or higher in engineering.
  • Four to eight years of relevant experience.
