Requirements
  • Candidates must have a Doctor of Veterinary Medicine degree and board certification or eligibility in ACVIM, ACVS, ACT, ACVPM or ABVP is required.
  • Clinical Track: Must have successfully completed an accredited residency training program.
  • Tenure Track: Must have successfully completed an accredited residency training program.
  • Associate Professor requires five years of related research/teaching/clinical experience; Full Professor requires eight years of related research/teaching/clinical experience.
  • Special/Physical Qualifications include University vehicle operation requiring an MVR and drug screens; Safety and Security Sensitive Job; Emergency Essential Personnel; Operation Essential Personnel; FERPA obligations.
  • Required to be capable of lifting over 50 pounds, standing, sitting, walking, bending, reaching above the shoulder, reaching below the shoulder, vision near sight, vision far sight, crawling, twisting, pushing/pulling, climbing, and squatting.
  • The position may require reporting to campus during emergencies and working nights, weekends, holidays, and during emergency closures.
Responsibilities
  • Clinical Track: Provide direct patient care for animals presented to the Food Animal Health Maintenance Service of the Veterinary Teaching Hospital and cooperate with other clinical faculty in clinical teaching and hospital practice.
  • Support the local veterinary community via consultation with referring veterinarians and involvement with the SVM food animal service.
  • Participate in intern and residency training programs in the Veterinary Teaching Hospital.
  • Scholarly Activity: To include teaching and collaborative research. Participation in the development of Food Animal Health Maintenance teaching programs. Didactic and laboratory teaching will involve professional instruction on topics related to farm animal medicine, surgery, and herd health.
  • Service: Participate in the on-call, after-hours emergency service, and supervision of the Food Animal Health Maintenance Service.
  • Tenure Track: Clinical Instruction: Provide direct patient care for animals presented to the Food Animal Health Maintenance Service of the Veterinary Teaching Hospital and cooperate with other clinical faculty in clinical teaching and hospital practice. Support the local veterinary community via consultation with referring veterinarians and involvement with the SVM food animal service. Participate in intern and residency training programs in the Veterinary Teaching Hospital.
  • Scholarly Activity: Include teaching and collaborative research. Participation in the development of Food Animal Health Maintenance teaching programs. Development of independent and collaborative investigative projects resulting in the publication of new knowledge, as reflected in peer-reviewed publications.
