Requirements
  • Must possess, as a minimum, a high school diploma or equivalent GED.
  • A food handler’s permit is preferred according to local regulatory requirements.
  • Experience in food preparation and service within a skilled nursing or long-term care facility is strongly preferred.
  • Must be able to speak, understand, and write fluent English.
  • Reliable transportation is required.
Responsibilities
  • Assist in preparing and/or serving meals and food for patients, employees, and special events as instructed by the Dietary Manager.
  • Serve food and snacks according to the planned menu or spreadsheet and each patient’s or resident’s food preferences and diet order.
  • Assist the Cook by ensuring food is prepared and/or portioned using proper food-handling and safety techniques, is of the proper quantity, is completed on schedule, and complies with the menu and residents’ diet orders.
  • Wash dishes when necessary or when instructed by the Dietary Manager.
