- Track and monitor progress against delivery timelines.
- Perform the design of underground structures, including stations, shafts, cut-and-cover structures, and TBM tunnels.
- Calculate retaining structures such as Berliner walls, micropile walls, joint or secant piles, diaphragm walls, and other types of retaining walls.
- Develop detailed engineering designs, drawings, and specifications for underground structures, cross-sections, support systems, and lining structures or segments.
- Conduct geotechnical assessments and incorporate ground support requirements into designs.
- Perform design calculations related to stability, buoyancy, embedment, crack width, and other verification of underground structures.
- Review geological and geotechnical data to support design decisions.
- Plan and interpret instrumentation and monitoring data.
- Apply design codes such as Eurocodes and AASHTO.
- Perform quality checks and implement engineering procedures.

H.W. Lochner has completed its rebrand as Egis following their merger in July 2025, creating a unified US infrastructure business with over 1,500 professionals across 70 offices. The combined organisation offers services across transportation, water, energy and environmental infrastructure. It integrates Lochner's 80-plus years of US infrastructure experience with Egis' global expertise in architecture, consulting, construction engineering, operations and mobility. Globally, Egis operates in 70 countries with approximately 23,500 employees. The company ranks 17th on Engineering News-Record's Top 225 International Design Firms list and seventh in transportation. Laurent Germain, Egis Group CEO, said the rebrand strengthens their US market position and enables them to leverage their global network to address complex client challenges.
Lochner, an Egis Group company, has appointed Karen Wiemelt to its Board of Directors. Wiemelt brings over 35 years of leadership experience in the nuclear and energy sectors, with expertise in programme management, environmental remediation and strategic planning. Wiemelt previously served as Senior Vice President and General Manager at Jacobs, where she led the company's global Energy, Security and Technology business unit. In that role, she managed a portfolio exceeding $1.5 billion in annual revenue and over 8,000 employees worldwide. She has also served on numerous industry and corporate boards. Founded in 1944, Lochner merged with Egis Group in July 2025, positioning it as the cornerstone of Egis' US growth strategy. Wiemelt holds a Bachelor of Science degree in Chemical Engineering from the Colorado School of Mines.
