Requirements
  • A minimum of 4+ years of experience in Geotechnical Engineering.
  • A Master of Engineering degree or equivalent education in an appropriate engineering discipline from an accredited college or university.
  • A strong understanding of geotechnical and structural principles.
  • Experience in the complete life cycle of a design project within a highway or railway environment.
  • Ability to correlate and interpret data shared by supporting interdisciplinary teams.
  • Ability to propose alternative solutions for problems encountered.
  • Ability to work in a diverse team spread across different geographical locations.
  • Ability to work on multiple projects.
  • Proficiency in geotechnical software such as PLAXIS 2D and Rocscience.
  • Proficiency in structural software such as STAAD, Robot, and Oasis.
  • Knowledge of design codes such as Eurocodes and AASHTO.
Responsibilities
  • Develop design procedures to facilitate high-quality, cost-effective solutions.
  • Participate in interdisciplinary reviews of project deliverables.
  • Prepare technical reports, including technical specifications, design basis reports, and other technical reports required for the project.
  • Ensure timely submission of design deliverables.
  • Track and monitor progress against delivery timelines.
  • Perform the design of underground structures, including stations, shafts, cut-and-cover structures, and TBM tunnels.
  • Calculate retaining structures such as Berliner walls, micropile walls, joint or secant piles, diaphragm walls, and other types of retaining walls.
  • Develop detailed engineering designs, drawings, and specifications for underground structures, cross-sections, support systems, and lining structures or segments.
  • Conduct geotechnical assessments and incorporate ground support requirements into designs.
  • Perform design calculations related to stability, buoyancy, embedment, crack width, and other verification of underground structures.
  • Review geological and geotechnical data to support design decisions.
  • Plan and interpret instrumentation and monitoring data.
  • Apply design codes such as Eurocodes and AASHTO.
  • Perform quality checks and implement engineering procedures.

Lochner appoints Karen Wiemelt to board with 35 years of nuclear and energy leadership

Wiemelt brings over 35 years of leadership experience in the nuclear and energy sectors, with expertise in programme management, environmental remediation and strategic planning. Wiemelt previously served as Senior Vice President and General Manager at Jacobs, where she led the company's global Energy, Security and Technology business unit. In that role, she managed a portfolio exceeding $1.5 billion in annual revenue and over 8,000 employees worldwide. She has also served on numerous industry and corporate boards.
