Requirements
  • A high school diploma, GED, or higher-level degree is required.
  • CompTIA A+ certification or an equivalent certification is required within one year of hire.
  • One year of customer service experience or completion of the Service Desk Technician rotation in the EMC IS Apprentice Program is required.
  • The technician must be able to provide Level I remote technical support for Windows operating systems, Active Directory, Microsoft Exchange, and Microsoft Office products.
  • The technician must be able to troubleshoot iOS and Android devices using mobile device management software.
  • Basic technical knowledge is required for troubleshooting multifunction devices such as printers, fax machines, scanners, and general office equipment.
  • Basic understanding of TCP/IP, wireless and networking principles, and digital or Voice over Internet Protocol telecommunications equipment is required.
  • Knowledge of Windows Active Directory and Exchange user administration is required.
  • The technician must understand how to troubleshoot computers, laptops, and mobile devices.
  • Web programming and SQL Server knowledge is required.
  • The technician must be able to work independently and collaborate in a team environment.
  • The technician must demonstrate communication, interpersonal, multitasking, organizational, and problem-solving abilities.
Responsibilities
  • Provides Level I technical support to end users, including diagnosing and resolving hardware, software, and network issues.
  • Provides step-by-step guidance to end users on technical problems.
  • Performs remote troubleshooting to support remote users.
  • Escalates more complex issues to Level II support staff.
  • Creates user incidents for all service desk calls, including required contact information, a clear description of the issue, troubleshooting notes, and appropriate escalation or resolution.
  • Manages access requests and creates accounts for non-provisioned applications.
  • Assists with staff onboarding, account setup, hardware setup, and software configuration.
  • Completes assigned service requests within the Service Desk Technician's area of responsibility by following documented procedures.
  • Provides remote technical support to patients who need IT assistance with the patient portal.
  • Maintains the service desk self-service queue within Service Level Agreement parameters.
  • Assists in resolving customer requests.
  • Revises existing knowledge base articles to assist with resolving customer issues.
  • Uses the knowledge base and other in-house tools to resolve service desk calls.
  • Meets monthly Service Desk Technician benchmark metrics, including First Level Resolution, tickets created versus calls handled, and average customer satisfaction.
  • Demonstrates compliance with the Code of Conduct and compliance policies, resolves compliance questions or concerns, and reports suspected violations.
  • Performs other assigned duties.
Desired Qualifications
  • An associate degree in an IT-related field is preferred.
  • HDI-CSR certification or an equivalent certification is preferred.
  • IT service desk experience in healthcare is preferred.
