Requirements
  • At least two years of related experience is required.

Responsibilities
  • Create and implement fundraising strategies to identify, cultivate, solicit, and steward corporate donors.
  • Manage, implement, and track day-to-day fundraising operations for the assigned portfolio and advise scholars on fundraising opportunities.
  • Identify fundraising opportunities, research new prospects, and assess the potential and capacity of existing and prospective donors.
  • Move corporate donors through cultivation, solicitation, and stewardship, including donor meetings, scholar meetings, talking points, briefings, correspondence, grant negotiations, and gift agreement processes.
  • Represent scholars’ work to current and potential funders and maintain relationships with prospects and donors.
  • Conceptualize, write, and submit concept notes, solicitation letters, and proposals; support scholars with proposal materials; and edit documents for quality, readability, consistent voice, and donor requirements.
  • Collaborate with development and research program colleagues on fundraising efforts.
  • Plan and implement events, meetings, and outreach opportunities for prospects and donors; prepare principals and follow up with participants.
  • Coordinate donor approaches across corporate giving and other constituency teams, including gift conversations, events, and stewardship.
  • Draft or direct the production of grant and stewardship reports.
  • Work with Development, Finance, and the Office of General Counsel on reviewing and negotiating grant agreements with corporations.
  • Implement corporate giving policies to safeguard Brookings’ reputation and independence.
  • Maintain complete fundraising activity files in Raiser’s Edge NXT, including donor correspondence, meeting notes, proposals, and background information.
  • Track grant deliverables and manage grant modifications or special reporting needs, including liaising with funders when modifications or extensions are needed.
  • Monitor philanthropic trends, corporate giving trends, and industry developments.
  • Maintain an overview of research projects within the portfolio.
  • Develop a pipeline of corporate prospects for individual scholars, centers, and programs.
Desired Qualifications
  • Familiarity with fundraising in a nonprofit environment is preferred.
  • Interest in global issues is preferred.
