The Heller School for Social Policy and Management at Brandeis University seeks an instructor for AI Literacy and Policy Fundamentals: Understanding and Mitigating Algorithmic Bias, a non-credit bearingcourse in the Fall 2025 semester. This course is an8-week hybrid online certificate programdesigned to provide a foundational understanding of algorithmic bias and anti-bias strategies in the context of artificial intelligence (AI). Participants will explore how AI systems can perpetuate biases, the impact of these biases on decision-making processes, and the ethical and policy considerations necessary to create fair and trustworthy AI systems. The course aims to equip learners with the tools and knowledge to critically assess AI applications and implement strategies to mitigate bias.
Candidates witha PhD, or equivalent qualifications in AI, machine learning, public policy, or related fieldsandexperience in algorithmic bias, fairness in AI, and public policywill be given preference. Interested individuals should submit a cover letter, CV,a draft course syllabus, and the names and contact information for two references. The deadline for first consideration isDecember 1, 2024.
