  • Experience in field services, construction services, fire protection, or other project-based billing environments.

  • Serve as an escalation point for business units on high-impact issues affecting payment, including billing errors, disputes, and customer service breakdowns, and drive timely resolution.
  • Drive consistent collections execution across assigned portfolios using data-driven strategies that reduce days sales outstanding and minimize bad debt while preserving customer relationships.
  • Use Esker to manage workflows, including dunning, dispute tracking, activity logging, and approvals or escalations, and ensure the team consistently uses it as the system of record.
  • Own and improve dispute resolution processes in partnership with Billing and Sales by establishing clear ownership, aging visibility, and escalation paths.
  • Monitor team key performance indicators, including days sales outstanding, percentage current, promise-to-pay accuracy, disputes opened and closed, contact attempts, and collector productivity, and communicate results to leadership.
  • Review and approve collection strategies for high-risk accounts; manage escalations and support negotiation of payment plans when needed.
  • Support month-end close activities related to accounts receivable, including aging review, reserves input, unapplied cash or credit balances, write-off packages, and reporting.
  • Identify and implement process improvements to scale the accounts receivable function during growth and acquisition integration, including standardization, documentation, controls, and training.
  • Partner with cross-functional stakeholders on transformation initiatives involving systems and process changes, customer master data quality, billing accuracy, and customer onboarding.
  • Ensure adherence to internal controls, policies, and customer-specific billing and collections requirements.

What believers are saying

  • Recurring inspection and maintenance contracts create durable, renewals-based revenue.
  • 24/7 emergency response supports high-margin corrective work after inspections and failures.
  • Permira ownership funds add-on acquisitions across a fragmented fire-protection market.

What critics are saying

  • Private equity pressure can force margin expansion that harms service quality.
  • Acquisition integration failures disrupt local branches, customer retention, and technician productivity.
  • Labor shortages and wage inflation immediately raise costs and slow emergency response times.

What makes Encore Fire Protection unique

  • End-to-end fire protection spans design, installation, testing, inspection, maintenance, and emergency response.
  • Operates across 17 states with over 2,400 employees, creating dense regional coverage.
  • Targets mission-critical, non-discretionary compliance work for commercial fire-alarm and sprinkler systems.
