Requirements
  • Experience operating and maintaining fish sorting and trapping equipment
  • Experience with research and monitoring techniques
  • Experience working with fish
  • Experience collecting and recording data
  • Anyone who has or is in pursuit of a Fisheries or Wildlife Science degree or related degree in biological/ecological sciences.
Responsibilities
  • Operate and maintain the Leaburg fish sorter/trap to capture adult and juvenile fish
  • Identify, enumerate and measure fish collected in the trap, and maintain them in good health until time of release
  • Operate Oneida trap nets, seines, minnow traps and electrofishing equipment to remove brook trout and monitor cutthroat trout in the Carmen Reservoir area of the upper McKenzie River
  • Transport captured fish
  • Conduct spawning ground surveys for bull trout and Chinook salmon in the Upper Willamette Basin
  • Maintain and repair fish sampling gear and equipment.
