Requirements
  • Bachelor's degree and at least 1 year of relevant experience, or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Technical and theoretical knowledge of cell culture, cell imaging, cell patch clamp techniques, small animal echocardiography, murine surgical techniques, electrocardiographic monitoring, catecholaminergic stress testing, immunoblotting, fluorescence imaging, quantitative polymerase chain reaction, and gel electrophoresis.
  • Successful completion of required employment background checks.
  • Authorization to work in the United States.
Responsibilities
  • Manage multicenter submission of human subjects data and biologic specimens.
  • Manage laboratory ordering and meticulous record keeping.
  • Assist postdoctoral and predoctoral teams with quantitative polymerase chain reaction, Western blotting, and other basic laboratory techniques.
  • Prepare human induced pluripotent stem cell-derived cardiomyocytes and perform contraction analyses at rest and in response to medication studies.
  • Perform patch-clamp techniques and studies.
  • Prepare complementary DNA clones for transfection and prepare dissection and dissociation solutions.
  • Process DNA and protein samples for polymerase chain reaction and Western blotting assays.
  • Maintain cell-line cultures for transfection.
  • Transfect cell lines and perform pharmacological assays using a microplate reader.
  • Perform Western blotting and quantitative reverse-transcription polymerase chain reaction assays.
  • Monitor and oversee animal lines, including transgenic mouse colony maintenance.
  • Prepare solutions and perform routine laboratory duties.
  • Analyze and plot assay data.
  • Present results in formal presentations, manuscripts, and grant applications.
  • Provide training to other laboratory staff.
