Requirements
  • A bachelor's degree in Metallurgical Engineering, Mineral Processing, or Chemical Engineering is required.
  • At least three years of relevant engineering experience in metallurgical processing, chemical manufacturing, materials engineering, or related industries is required.
  • Knowledge of metallurgical processes such as extractive metallurgy, hydrometallurgy, or pyrometallurgy, or of chemical process systems, is required.
  • Experience with process modeling, data analysis, and engineering software tools such as METSIM, SysCAD, HSC, or similar tools, and the AutoCAD family of products, is required.
  • Familiarity with industry standards, safety protocols, and environmental regulations is required.
  • The role requires data analysis and interpretation skills, the ability to apply engineering fundamentals to moderately complex problems, and adherence to safety, environmental, and regulatory standards.
  • Progress toward Professional Engineer licensure is encouraged if applicable.
Responsibilities
  • Work under general supervision while developing technical independence and decision-making capability.
  • Contribute to multidisciplinary project teams and coordinate with process, mechanical, environmental, and project management staff.
  • Support continuous improvement initiatives and promote adherence to safety, quality, and operational standards.
  • Apply metallurgical and chemical engineering principles to design, analyze, troubleshoot, and optimize processes.
  • Evaluate process performance, identify inefficiencies, and recommend improvements.
  • Support the development of technical reports, feasibility studies, and process documentation.
  • Participate in client interactions, support technical discussions, and deliver solutions aligned with project goals.
  • Ensure compliance with applicable environmental, safety, and regulatory requirements.
  • Contribute to innovation efforts involving new technologies, process improvements, and sustainability initiatives.
  • Perform process calculations, mass and energy balances, and material characterizations.
  • Develop and evaluate process flow diagrams, piping and instrumentation diagrams, and equipment specifications.
  • Support metallurgical testing, chemical analysis, and interpretation of laboratory and pilot-scale data.
  • Assist in troubleshooting plant processes, including refining, extraction, separation, corrosion, and materials failure analysis.
  • Conduct data analysis to support process optimization, quality improvement, and operational efficiency.
  • Prepare technical memoranda, engineering reports, and design documentation.
  • Collaborate with field teams and support site visits, commissioning, or operational assessments as needed.
Desired Qualifications
  • Engineer-in-Training certification is preferred.
  • Progress toward Professional Engineer licensure is encouraged.
