Requirements
  • Two years of cardiac catheterization laboratory experience are required.
  • The candidate must be trained as a radiologic technologist in all aspects of scrubbing and operating the X-ray equipment used for Cardiac Cath Lab and Special Procedures Lab procedures.
  • The candidate must explain care to patients and include them in their care.
  • Competencies must include Balloon Pump and Impella.
  • A current New Hampshire American Registry of Radiologic Technologists license is required.
  • Basic Cardiac Life Support certification is required.
  • Advanced Cardiac Life Support certification is required.
  • Completion of a certificate or degree course of study in radiologic technology is required, or an equivalent combination of education and experience that provides proficiency in the listed responsibilities.
  • The candidate must live within 30 minutes of the hospital for the call requirement.
Responsibilities
  • Scrub in for Cardiac Cath Lab and Special Procedures procedures.
  • Pan heart catheters.
  • Evaluate images to ensure they have the density, contrast, detail, and structures needed for physician diagnosis.
  • Perform special procedures radiography using appropriate equipment according to department procedures.
  • Maintain procedural areas neatly and orderly and keep them prepared throughout the day, with special emphasis at the end of the shift; clean and prepare tables and equipment for the next patient and restock materials.
  • Complete assigned examinations within the prescribed time according to procedure.
  • Report for duty in a timely manner, in scrubs and ready for patient care.
  • Review requisitions for pertinent information and special requests.
  • Position and prepare patients and set up equipment for all procedures.
  • Scrub and assist physicians during diagnostic and interventional procedures.
  • Report unusual reactions or conditions to the nurse.
  • Use judgment when providing information based on the situation and remain sensitive to individual and organizational concerns.
  • Rotate among various shifts or departments as needed to adjust staffing to meet patient care needs.
