Requirements
  • Bachelor's Degree in Health Information Administration or a related field, or relatable industry experience required.
  • RHIA or RHIT preferred
  • Minimum of 5 years of Management experience in Health Information Management.
  • Eight (8) to Ten (10) years of related experience managing healthcare and health information operations, including experience in a large inpatient facility.
  • Three (3) to five (5) years of direct supervisory/leadership experience in a healthcare environment.
  • Knowledge of HIM principles, project management, and change management is essential.
  • Ability to prioritize tasks effectively and manage multiple responsibilities simultaneously.
  • Strong organizational, facilitation, communication, and presentation skills.
Responsibilities
  • Direct the day-to-day HIM operations of assigned locations to assure attainment of service levels for timeliness, accuracy, data integrity, compliance, and quality of information within the electronic health record.
  • Proactively manage significant issues in HIM operations, including backlogs and turnover, and communicate status of projects, barriers, and successes.
  • Manage HIM operational performance according to productivity and quality standards as documented in job descriptions and system key performance metrics.
  • Establish solid working relationships with inpatient and ambulatory clinical service lines, revenue cycle, and other internal customers to support daily operations and goal attainment.
  • Render key performance metrics at the facility and enterprise level related to HIM operations, Joint Commission elements of performance, and physician compliance to medical record policy.
  • Participate in process improvement activities at the system and local facility level.
  • Assure data accuracy and timeliness of reporting to federal and state agencies as required.
  • Develop, implement, and adhere to HIM operational procedures to assure regulatory compliance and achievement of system goals.
  • Provide management, coaching, and recruitment for site location resources, while maintaining high staff morale and a positive culture.
