  • Bachelor’s Degree Computer science, electronics engineering, or other engineering or technical discipline is required.
  • 1-10+ years of working experience.
  • 8 years of additional relevant experience may be substituted for education.
  • Must have an Active TOP SECRET US Government Clearance. Note: US Citizenship is required to maintain a TOP SECRET Clearance.
Responsibilities
  • Supervises and coordinates activities of workers engaged in preparation and layout of a technical publication and ensures the quality and timely delivery of required material.
  • Studies materials to determine most effective form of presentation and number and type of illustrations required, in accordance with specifications and accepted standards of composition, limitations of equipment, and available funds.
  • Activities include, but are not limited to, various media types such as desktop publishing, documentation manuals and software, electronic publishing, illustrations, marketing materials, repair guides and manuals, sales materials, software presentations, translations, users manuals, and related materials.
  • This position typically reports to a manager and is the first level of supervision in the organization.
  • Coordinates technical liaison services between management, production department, sales department, and customers with newly developed techniques or practices in processing company products, and to inform customers of new types, specifications, and end-uses of products.
  • Prepares mockup for use by other workers in preparing pages.
  • Copyedits printing instructions or marks for editorial changes.
  • Routes artwork to correction and reproduction.
  • Routes editorial material for production.
  • Reviews finished material for format, accuracy, and general appearance.
  • Submits proofs for final review and routes corrected copy for printing or production.
  • Plans technical drawings to supplement copy.
  • A Senior Technical Writer/Editor must have experience in editing narrative and graphic products to identify and correct grammatical formatting and logic errors and to identify logical inconsistencies that will require author attention.
  • Must have experience in the application a variety of word processing, spreadsheet, graphics, and scheduling tools.
  • Must have experience in meeting with authors and other team representatives to review documents, compile inputs/corrections, resolve incompatible comments, and provide final publishable documentation.
  • Must have experience in explaining in simple language scientific and technical ideas that are difficult for the average reader to understand.
  • Other duties as assigned.
