Requirements
  • A bachelor's degree and a minimum of 3 years of experience, including at least 2 years of experience in the utility industry.
  • Well-developed writing skills and strong interpersonal and communication skills to support effective collaboration with colleagues and customers.
  • Ability to adapt to the role and company culture, act proactively toward team objectives, and understand the impact of diverse work styles and behaviors.
  • Ability to present information and convey a point of view professionally, including through continuing professional development.

Responsibilities
  • Conduct moderate to complex Environmental, Health & Safety audits and other projects concurrently at Con Edison, Orange & Rockland, and Con Edison Transmission locations.
  • Apply sampling techniques and computer-assisted audit tools and techniques.
  • Develop risk-and-control matrices, identify key controls, and develop strategies to test control design and effectiveness.
  • Complete workpapers with cross-referenced supporting documentation that supports audit observations, conclusions, and recommendations and meets Institute of Internal Auditors Global Internal Audit Standards.
  • Prepare clear, concise, and accurate audit reports and assist in reviewing draft reports prepared by other auditors.
  • Perform follow-up audit work to determine whether management has implemented recommendations in a timely manner.
  • Identify and recommend cost-saving opportunities during audits.
  • Schedule and lead audit kick-off, midpoint status, and closing meetings.
  • Complete ongoing training in auditing, Environmental, Health & Safety, and other subject areas to meet certification requirements and improve audit quality.
  • Perform rotational assignments within other Auditing Sections.
  • Work on Company project teams and manage multiple assignments and competing priorities concurrently.
  • Perform walkthroughs and reviews at Company facilities, including substations, generating stations, service and operating centers, administrative buildings, tunnels, and other locations.
  • Perform employee and contractor field-crew inspections throughout all service territories.
  • Comply with Institute of Internal Auditors Global Internal Audit Standards and complete required ethics and professionalism attestations.
Desired Qualifications
  • Hands-on Environmental, Health & Safety field experience, such as inspecting field crews and facility locations.
  • Previous auditing or quality assurance experience.
  • Strong data analytics skills.
  • Experience and familiarity with company policies, procedures, systems, business processes, or relevant audit experience.
  • Experience evaluating operations, controls, or systems for effectiveness and developing or following audit procedures.
  • Experience training others in audit-related functions.
  • Knowledge of MAXIMO, EMIS, COS, SLS, and the Environmental, Health & Safety Business Intelligence Dashboard.
  • Certified Internal Auditor, Certified Safety Professional, or another Environmental, Health & Safety certification.
