DevOps engineers at Wave work in the space where operations meets product development. Our team is committed to organically building our culture of DevOps through enabling product teams to make informed decisions about their infrastructure, working with them to solve infrastructure related problems, and by building and maintaining the tools that make this possible. Our team has just completed a full migration from a legacy container management platform to Kubernetes, a migration from AWS RDS to AWS Aurora, and migrated 3 legacy MySQL apps to PostgreSQL. Now that our infrastructure modernization project is complete, we are eagerly pushing ahead with our DevOps enablement program as well as building out cloud-based personal developer environments so our engineers can have a fully cloud-native developer experience.
As a Senior Engineer you will be expected to go beyond the day-to-day needs of the team, leveraging your many years of experience to make more systematic improvements to the team’s DevOps practices. You will also be expected to regularly and substantively improve the skills of other team members. Some ways this may manifest itself include introducing new processes to the team, independently identifying areas of friction and driving solutions, running workshops for other members of engineering on DevOps practices, and mentoring other engineers. Here at Wave we expect all mid-level and above engineers to take full ownership of major initiatives from definition to delivery and to support other engineers while they grow into this responsibility.
Our team has a mature practice of lean/kanban and we believe in continuous improvement. As a Senior Engineer others will look to you for leadership. You can count on a great team of peers to support you while you reach your full potential.
You will thrive here if you have:
- 4+ years of cloud native infrastructure work experience, ideally on AWS.
- Deep understanding of software development and system design
- Extensive experience with IaC, preferably Terraform
- Experience with observability and alerting tools such as Datadog and PagerDuty
- A comfort working in new domains
- An understanding of container orchestration tools, such as Docker and Kubernetes, from an application developer’s point of view
- Have led multiple major projects and are excited to support others in doing the same
