Requirements
  • A bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field is required.
  • At least 7 years of progressive accounting or finance experience is required.
  • Strong understanding of U.S. GAAP, monthly close, journal entries, accruals, account reconciliations, fixed assets, prepaids, intercompany activity, and financial reporting is required.
  • Advanced Excel and data analysis skills are required.
  • Strong communication skills are required to partner with operations, accounting, financial planning and analysis, treasury, tax, external auditors, and senior finance leadership.
  • Ability to operate in a fast-paced, changing environment while balancing corporate, project, and operational priorities is required.

Responsibilities
  • Own monthly close activities for assigned renewables entities and business units, including timely journal entries, accruals, account reconciliations, and variance analysis.
  • Maintain accurate accounting records for renewables operations, project entities, renewable natural gas activities, intercompany transactions, and related business unit reporting.
  • Prepare and review monthly financial statements, management reporting packages, and supporting schedules for assigned entities and business units.
  • Ensure accounting treatment is consistent with U.S. GAAP, internal policies, and evolving enterprise accounting standards.
  • Partner with corporate accounting, financial reporting, and external auditors to support quarterly and annual audit requests, technical accounting support, and documentation needs.
  • Collect and provide information for consolidated financial reporting, tax preparation, statutory reporting, treasury support, and other corporate finance requirements.
  • Perform ad hoc accounting analysis, reporting, and special projects as required.
  • Lead accounting and reporting support for renewable energy business units and related project entities, including BCM, RAE, RNG equity activities, and other assigned renewables operations.
  • Support project-level accounting, cost tracking, revenue recognition support, cost-to-complete analysis, and margin analysis in partnership with operations and FP&A.
  • Prepare and review business unit close schedules, project accruals, capitalized cost support, and related balance sheet reconciliations.
  • Support accounting for grants, renewable energy assets, development costs, fixed assets, prepaids, and related funding or incentive programs.
  • Partner with operations leaders to explain monthly results, key drivers, margin trends, forecast changes, and accounting impacts.
  • Support accounting for RNG trading, marketing, offtake, environmental credit, and related commercial activities, including maintaining an attribute position tracker.
  • Reconcile invoices, settlements, positions, and counterparty activity from pipelines, customers, registries, and project entities.
  • Validate profit-and-loss activity and identify discrepancies between accounting records, project information, and operational or trading data.
  • Support audit and compliance reviews related to RIN, LCFS, ISCC, grant, incentive, and other environmental credit programs.
  • Collaborate with finance leadership and risk management resources to support counterparty exposure, settlement accuracy, and policy compliance.
  • Strengthen close discipline, reconciliation quality, documentation standards, and recurring accounting controls for assigned entities and processes.
  • Identify process gaps, control weaknesses, recurring close issues, and reporting inefficiencies; recommend and help implement practical improvements.
  • Support the design and implementation of financial processes connecting renewables operations, project finance, accounting, FP&A, treasury, and corporate reporting.
  • Support ERP, reporting, and workflow improvements, including future Oracle implementation activities and opportunities to automate reconciliations, invoicing, and reporting.
  • Develop repeatable schedules, checklists, and documentation to reduce key-person dependency and improve continuity.
  • Serve as the primary accounting partner for assigned renewables leaders and cross-functional teams.
  • Work closely with the Enterprise Controller, CFO, Director of Financial Reporting, FP&A, treasury, tax, compliance, and external accounting firms.
  • Provide clear issue escalation, timely follow-up, and practical recommendations to resolve accounting and reporting matters.
  • Help build a culture of accountability, accuracy, timely close, and continuous improvement within the finance and accounting organization.
Desired Qualifications
  • CPA or CMA is preferred.
  • Experience in renewable energy, bioenergy, agri-processing, or environmental commodities is strongly preferred.
  • Strong understanding of mark-to-market, derivatives, and hedge accounting is preferred.
  • Experience with percentage-of-completion accounting, ASC 606, cost-to-complete analysis, or project-based revenue recognition is preferred.
  • Experience with grants, equity method investments, RNG, environmental credits, or complex entity structures is advantageous.
  • Experience with ERP systems such as Oracle, NetSuite, SAP, or similar platforms is preferred.
  • Power BI, Tableau, or similar reporting tools experience is preferred.
