Stephanie Sams Promoted to Director of Branch Banking; Julie Withers Named District Manager at Midland States Bank EFFINGHAM, Ill. - June 17, 2026 - Midland States Bank is pleased to announce two leadership promotions within its Branch Banking team: Stephanie Sams to Director of Branch Banking, and Julie Withers to District Manager. Sams brings over 27 years of financial services experience to her new role, including 15 years at Midland States Bank. During her tenure, she advanced through a range of positions, from Customer Service Representative to District Manager for the Southern District. She also served as interim District Manager in other regions, providing leadership support to 30 branches across Southern Illinois, Northern Illinois, and the St. Louis metro area. Sams will help drive strategy and customer experience across Midland's branch network, supporting teams and promoting consistent, high-quality service. Midland States Bancorp reported net income available to common shareholders of $16.2 million, or $0.74 per diluted share, for the first quarter of 2026, recovering from a net loss of $5.1 million in the fourth quarter of 2025. The Effingham, Illinois-based company posted adjusted earnings of $17.2 million, or $0.79 per diluted share. Net interest margin expanded to 3.91% from 3.74% in the prior quarter, driven primarily by lower funding costs. The Community Bank loan portfolio increased $68.8 million, or 8.3% annualised, though total loans decreased $13.4 million due to anticipated runoff in specialty finance and non-core portfolios. Credit quality improved, with nonperforming assets declining to 0.91% of total assets. The company repurchased $7.8 million of common stock during the quarter, with common equity tier 1 capital reaching 9.98%.
