JOB SUMMARY:
As a Provider Network Assistant (PNA), you’ll set up exams for patients and handle customer service inquiries. Part of your job will also involve ensuring there is enough time between appointments to allow providers to complete certain medical examinations and procedures. Other clerical duties may include maintaining databases, faxing, and scanning patient histories, answering phones, and updating patient account information.
It’s also your responsibility to act in a courteous manner and maintain your composure when dealing with angry or irritated patients. Additionally, you may refer some patients to other staff members or providers. You will need to know how to process the required referral forms when necessary.

DUTIES/RESPONSIBILITIES:
Obtain patient information at the time of scheduling and assist in filling out forms and relevant documents.
Make and distribute daily schedules for healthcare providers and staff.
Complete daily logs as assigned by Provider Network Coordinator
Answer incoming calls to schedule appointments or ancillaries.
Review provider schedules to ensure proper scheduling for assigned territory.
Maintain and update provider and patient data.
Organize and maintain confidential medical files and records.
Any other duties as assigned by your supervisor.
REQUIRED SKILLS/ABILITIES:
Strong critical thinking and problem-solving skills.
Must be familiar with billing and scheduling software used in automated health care systems or similar billing and scheduling software.
Type 45+ wpm.
Must have the ability to multi-task and have strong organizational skills; must have the ability to communicate effectively with physicians, staff, patients, and external customers at all times.
EDUCATION & EXPERIENCE:
High School Diploma or GED.
Prior experience as a medical scheduler preferred.
Prior experience in administration in lieu of medical scheduling experience
Clinical knowledge in a medical specialization

WORK ENVIRONMENT:
The work environment characteristics described here are representative of those an employee encounters while performing the essential functions of this job. The employee will normally work in a temperature-controlled office/clinic environment, with frequent exposure to electronic and medical office equipment. During visits to areas of operations, may be exposed to extreme cold or hot weather conditions. Is occasionally exposed to fumes or airborne particles, toxic or caustic chemicals, and loud noise.
