Requirements
  • Education and experience equivalent to a Bachelor’s degree from an accredited college or university in Environmental Health, Environmental Science, or a job-related field of study; One (1) year work-related experience in a field related to lead, asbestos, public health, or environmental remediation work; Must possess or be able to obtain Lead Inspector Certification within sixty (60) days of employment; Must possess a valid Texas Driver’s License, with a good driving record; Ability to drive to various site locations; Skilled in the use of standard software applications; Ability to effectively communicate, both verbally and in writing and establish and maintain effective working relationships with employees, departments and the general public; Physical/Environmental Requirements: normal sitting and standing and generally the occasional lifting of 25 pounds or less.
Responsibilities
  • Performs lead assessments in accordance with federal, state, and local regulations.
  • Maintains accurate documentation of inspections, remediation activities, contractor performance, and clearance results in accordance with program and grant requirements.
  • Coordinates and monitors lead hazard control and remediation work in eligible housing units, ensuring activities are completed in accordance with program requirements and safety standards.
  • Oversees contractors performing lead hazard abatement to ensure work is completed satisfactorily, on schedule, and in compliance with all applicable federal, state, and local regulations.
  • Prepares reports for single-family homes that identify lead hazards and specifies required remediation activities and necessary repairs to eliminate lead risks.
  • Notifies certified testing companies when clearance testing is required following remediation activities and coordinates testing timelines with contractors and program staff.
  • Ensures clearance samples demonstrate homes meet lead-safe standards and is safe for occupants to return following remediation work.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.
