Requirements
  • A Bachelor's degree in Engineering, specifically Metallurgical, Mechanical, Manufacturing, or a related field.
  • At least 7 years of manufacturing engineering experience within a regulated manufacturing environment, preferably medical device manufacturing.
  • Prior supervisory and management experience with responsibility for developing teams, managing performance, and leading engineering initiatives.
  • Technical leadership and project management experience leading cross-functional initiatives and driving results.
  • Experience in sustaining engineering, including engineering change orders, root cause analysis, nonconformance investigations, corrective and preventive action support, and continuous improvement of released products.
  • Proficiency in computer-aided design software such as SolidWorks and geometric dimensioning and tolerancing, with knowledge of plastics and metals used in medical device manufacturing.
  • Experience with automation and manufacturing systems, including specification, commissioning, troubleshooting, and process optimization.
  • Experience supporting New Product Introduction, design transfer, and Design for Manufacturability.
  • Knowledge of Lean Manufacturing, Six Sigma, 5S, and other continuous improvement methodologies.
  • Strong communication skills for coordinating with cross-functional teams, stakeholders, and clients.
  • Strong critical-thinking and analytical skills to resolve complex technical issues during production.
  • Knowledge of safety standards, compliance requirements, and continuous integration/continuous delivery tools.
  • Knowledge of ISO 13485 medical-device regulations.
Responsibilities
  • Lead and mentor manufacturing engineering personnel, establish engineering priorities, manage resources, and drive strategic manufacturing initiatives.
  • Apply chemical engineering principles and metallurgy to design, optimize, and manage metal production processes, and integrate metal products into plastic components for subsequent assembly.
  • Lead sustaining engineering activities for released products and manufacturing processes, including root cause investigations, engineering change orders, nonconformance resolution, corrective and preventive action support, yield improvement, cost reduction, and continuous improvement projects.
  • Use Lean Manufacturing, Six Sigma, and 5S methodologies to eliminate bottlenecks, improve workflow, increase throughput, reduce waste, and enhance manufacturing efficiency.
  • Conduct validation, testing, and commissioning of systems to ensure performance, safety, reliability, and regulatory compliance.
  • Support new product introduction and product improvement initiatives through prototype development, verification and validation testing, and data analysis.
  • Create and maintain technical documentation, including schematics, user guides, manufacturing work instructions, process documentation, and engineering reports.
  • Train staff on new equipment, processes, and manufacturing best practices.
  • Ensure compliance with ISO 13485 and Food and Drug Administration regulations, including managing design history file and validation documentation.
Desired Qualifications
  • Lean Six Sigma certification is preferred.
  • Medical device manufacturing experience is preferred.
  • Knowledge of ISO 13485 medical-device regulations is a plus.
