Project Kitty Hawk is an education technology and services nonprofit that partners with North Carolina public universities to create online programs and services for working adults. Its goal is to help adult learners earn high-quality, workforce-aligned degrees and credentials from UNC System schools, contributing to North Carolina’s 2030 attainment goal of 2 million adults with postsecondary credentials. The platform works by offering online degree pathways and support services designed specifically for working adults, integrating into UNC System offerings through an affiliate relationship funded by state start-up grants. What sets it apart is its direct partnership with the state’s public universities to tailor online programs for adult learners and its focus on accelerating degree attainment for North Carolina’s workforce, rather than competing with existing universities or general ed tech providers.
