Requirements
  • Associate’s degree from an accredited school of Radiologic Technology
  • Registered ARRT
  • Registry Eligible technologist must receive registration within 6 months of hire date
  • Successful completion of requirements for orientation which includes Hospital, Core and Department specific orientation
  • BLS required within 6 months of hire date
  • Must demonstrate excellent human relation skills to deal with patients, physicians and others in sometimes difficult or sensitive situation, including verbal and written communication, problem solving and assertiveness
  • Must have a customer service orientation
  • Must demonstrate leadership and organization skills including the ability to work independently and take initiative within established procedures
  • Must be able to operate and perform basic computer programs associated with record keeping in the department work which produces high levels of mental/visual fatigue, e.g. interactive and repetitive or small detail work requiring alertness and concentration for sustained periods of time
  • Involves considerable standing or walking, regular lifting of light-weight objects (i. e., 20 pounds for less) and assisting with heavier tasks such as assisting in lifting and moving patients or moving equipment weighing over 50 pounds
  • Minor straining or fatiguing positions must be assumed, and some fatiguing physical motions are required
  • Receives or escorts patients into examination are if needed, reviews pertinent patient information, instructs patient concerning the procedure if necessary
  • Assist provider during all special procedures studies (i. e., angiograms, vena cavagrams, advanced orthopedics etc.) to provide optimal diagnostic/special radiology examinations
  • Operated highly sophisticated electronic equipment during exams (c-arm, Oarm and Hybrid room) in the surgical suite, observing patient vital signs and other pertinent data and anticipating the needs of the physician
  • Administers or assists in the administration of radiopharmaceuticals under the direction provider
  • Works as radiologic technologist in other radiology sections as workload requires
  • Work may be performed in Radiology Department or other hospital areas as necessary to accommodate patient/ provider needs
  • Operates all equipment properly and with care and regularly performs maintenance and quality control work
  • Immediately reports any malfunctions, necessary adjustments or repairs
  • Performs first aid as required and assists in cases of adverse reaction to contrast medical or in other emergencies
  • Observes and practices sterile technique documentation of patient and file information
  • Maintains appropriate supply level in their area of responsibility
  • Demonstrates or oversees the on the job training for student technologist and other non -professional assistants as assigned
Responsibilities
  • Assist the provider during surgical invasive and non-invasive radiographic imaging and perform a diverse range of other diagnostic radiology work on a wide variety of patients
  • Operate and use highly sophisticated electronic equipment during exams (c-arm, Oarm and Hybrid room) in the surgical suite and monitor patient vital signs and data
  • Administer radiopharmaceuticals under the direction of the provider
  • Work as radiologic technologist in other radiology sections as workload requires
  • Escorting patients into examination areas as needed and reviewing pertinent patient information and instructing patients concerning procedures
  • Perform maintenance and quality control on equipment and report malfunctions or needed repairs
  • Observe sterile technique and maintain documentation of patient and file information
  • Provide first aid and assist in cases of adverse reactions to contrast or in other emergencies
  • Demonstrate or oversee on-the-job training for student technologist and other non-professional assistants
  • Operate in Radiology Department or other hospital areas as necessary to accommodate patient/provider needs
  • Maintain appropriate supply levels in their area of responsibility
  • Demonstrate excellent human relation skills including verbal and written communication, problem solving and assertiveness
  • Provide customer service oriented care and show leadership and organization skills including the ability to work independently and take initiative within established procedures
  • Coordinate with team to ensure imaging procedures are performed efficiently and safely
  • Complete required orientation including Hospital, Core and Department specific orientation
