Requirements
  • Red Seal Interprovincial Journeyperson Electrician Certification is required.
  • Previous experience in industrial, commercial, construction, maintenance, commissioning, or field service electrical work is required.
  • Strong knowledge of electrical systems, safe work practices, electrical codes, and applicable standards is required.
  • Ability to read, write, and communicate effectively in English is required.
  • A valid driver's license with a satisfactory driving record is required.
  • Willingness and availability to work field-based assignments, travel, overtime, and multiple shift schedules as required is required.
  • The role requires work at customer sites, industrial facilities, substations, construction sites, and other project locations, including exposure to varying weather conditions, heights, confined spaces, energized equipment, noise, dust, and other industrial conditions.
  • The position may require pre-employment and ongoing testing under the company's Alcohol and Drug Policy, customer requirements, and applicable laws.
  • Compliance with site-specific safety requirements, permits, procedures, customer expectations, occupational health and safety legislation, and company safety standards is required.
Responsibilities
  • Install, maintain, troubleshoot, test, and repair industrial electrical systems, equipment, and components.
  • Work with low-, medium-, and high-voltage electrical equipment in field-based industrial and commercial environments.
  • Read and interpret drawings, schematics, specifications, single-line diagrams, and technical documentation.
  • Perform electrical construction, maintenance, commissioning, outage, shutdown, and service work as assigned.
  • Work safely on or near energized and de-energized electrical systems in accordance with applicable procedures and standards.
  • Select appropriate materials, complete quality installations, and ensure work aligns with the Canadian Electrical Code and applicable regulations.
  • Complete service reports, inspection forms, maintenance records, safety documentation, and job-site paperwork accurately and on time.
  • Mentor and support apprentices and junior team members while promoting safe work practices and technical development.
  • Participate in hazard assessments, tailgate meetings, field audits, inspections, positive safety reporting, mandatory safety training, and orientations.
  • Travel to customer sites and project locations, including out-of-town assignments, as required.
  • Perform other duties the employee is trained, competent, and authorized to complete.
  • Follow the company's health, safety, environmental, and quality policies and procedures.
  • Maintain a safety-focused, respectful, accountable, and team-oriented work environment.
Desired Qualifications
  • Experience with control systems, conduit, cable tray, grounding, terminations, switchgear, motors, motor control centers, transformers, or medium-voltage equipment is considered an asset.
  • Industrial safety training or certifications such as CSTS, WHMIS, First Aid, fall protection, or confined space are considered assets.
