Requirements
  • Hold an undergraduate degree in a scientific, engineering, or engineering-related discipline.
  • Have at least five years of professional experience in engineering or a related field, or a graduate-level degree in engineering or a related technical field with at least three years of professional experience.
  • Complete a successful background investigation.

Responsibilities
  • Oversee four student teams in a project advisory role and provide guidance as teams move through the design process.
  • Hold weekly meetings with assigned teams, respond to emails, and grade all student and team deliverables in a timely fashion using provided rubrics.
  • Support structured small-group activities stemming from lectures.
  • Attend all class sessions delivered by course instructors and participate in recitation follow-up activities.
  • Attend all regular Project Advisor meetings, including kickoff and end-of-semester meetings with the capstone leadership team.
  • Guide student teams in managing and executing successful projects, exploring design options, and building and testing solutions.
  • Steer teams back on track when they lose sight of design objectives.
  • Help teams understand and execute professional communications with their clients.
  • Help teams manage scope creep initiated by clients.
Desired Qualifications
  • An undergraduate degree in Civil Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Environmental Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, or a closely related discipline.
  • An active Professional Engineer license.
  • Demonstrated undergraduate-level teaching experience.
  • Teaching experience in open-ended problem solving, technical design, or guiding effective teamwork.
  • Proficiency in technical communication.
  • Experience with user-engaged design, including helping students identify and engage with stakeholders and users throughout the problem-solving process.
