Requirements
  • Bachelor’s degree from an accredited university
  • 8+ years related experience in process improvement or project management
  • Lead Lean Process Improvement Professional experience in procedure/training role
  • Must be a United States Citizen
  • Lean experience with complex manufacturing processes and/or high hazard operations
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office Products (Word/Excel/PowerPoint) and related tools (including Adobe Acrobat, data analytic tools, Visio); advanced with Excel, Access, Outlook, PowerPoint, and Word
  • All employees must be determined eligible for Facility Access Authorization by the U.S. Government; security clearance potential up to Top Secret or Department of Energy DOE 'Q' clearance; may be required to submit to varying levels of background investigations
  • Ability to work a 40-hour work week; willing to travel occasionally as needed; 5/8, 4/10, or 9/80 schedules may apply
  • Must be able to use a computer to communicate via email; proficient with Microsoft Office Products and related tools
Responsibilities
  • Implements process improvement initiatives across Savannah River Remediation by analyzing and measuring the effectiveness of existing business processes and developing sustainable, repeatable, and quantifiable improvements
  • Educates and promotes Lean and Six Sigma methodologies and follows applicable guidelines
  • Establishes and/or follows a graded, data-driven approach for solving business problems
  • Collects and critically analyzes data and information using statistical and non-statistical methods to develop and recommend improved business practices and procedures focused on safety, productivity, and cost reduction
  • Participates in and coordinates development of event Charters and scheduling; works with departmental management to assure appropriate participation and support
  • Provides event follow-up to monitor progress of planned improvements for timely action and achievement of benefits; uses measurement, analysis, and evaluation methods to identify document process improvements
  • Develops reports of overall Continuous Improvement activities including accomplishments, participation, projected activities, and anticipated needs
  • Researches best business practices and benchmarks data; incorporates where appropriate
  • Utilizes change control procedures for seamless integration
  • Periodically assesses in-process initiatives to mitigate risks and take corrective action
  • Cultivates productive working relationships across the organization and with senior managers, DOE and stakeholders
  • Facilitates complex process improvement discussions; prepares/delivers presentations for assigned initiatives
  • Mentors junior colleagues and project employees in Lean tools/techniques
  • Collaborates with process improvement colleagues on Lean and Six Sigma methodologies, tools, and lessons learned
  • Contributes to creation/revision of process methodologies/protocols, communication strategy, planning, and documentation templates
  • Creates and edits plans, policies, procedures, information, data, and documentation for assigned initiatives
  • Provides leadership for less experienced analysts
