Requirements
  • Graduate of an accredited medical school and completion of residency and/or fellowship in the area of specialty.
  • Current or recent experience in the area of specialty.
  • MD or DO licensed by the state licensure board within the state of practice.
  • Board certified or board eligible in the area of specialty by the appropriate medical board.
  • Ability to perform the stated physical and sensory requirements, including standing, walking, therapeutic procedures, lifting, and moving patients.
Responsibilities
  • Perform history and physical examinations of all patients seen.
  • Provide cost-effective, high-quality care based on best-practice, evidence-based medicine.
  • Adhere to standardized orders and practice guidelines approved by the medical staff.
  • Assess and treat patients according to their age and developmental needs.
  • Communicate regularly and appropriately with referring physicians, patients, and their families.
  • Educate patients and their families.
  • Evaluate and implement patient healthcare needs, obtain patient histories, manage treatment programs, initiate treatment through prescriptions and diagnostic tests, review lab results, and perform routine health maintenance activities.
  • Coordinate patient care and make referrals to physicians, nurses, psychologists, nutritionists, and other professionals as needed.
  • Coordinate patient care and family counseling with public and mental health agencies when appropriate.
  • Teach wellness habits and educate patients on prevention and management of health problems.
  • Maintain knowledge of current medical practices and skills.
  • Maintain confidentiality and comply with information-release requirements.
  • Comply with network and departmental policies regarding employee, patient, and environmental safety and follow reporting requirements.
  • Participate in quality, patient satisfaction, and performance-improvement initiatives.
