Requirements
- A high school diploma or GED is required.
- Current State of Ohio emergency medical services certification is required.
- Current cardiopulmonary resuscitation certification is required.
- A valid driver's license is required, with no more than four points and approval by the company insurance provider.
- Annual proctored skills and written protocol (standing orders) testing must be completed without lapse.
- The employee must be able to properly use all company-provided medical equipment.
- The employee must maintain strict confidentiality in accordance with Health Insurance Portability and Accountability Act regulations and protect sensitive company and employee information.
Responsibilities
- Assess the extent of illness or injury to establish and prioritize medical procedures.
- Administer initial treatment at emergency scenes.
- Assist in extricating trapped victims and transport sick and injured persons to treatment centers.
- Communicate with physicians and other medical personnel via radio and telephone.
- Complete patient care and billing reports.
- Maintain working knowledge of service areas, including facility locations, local regulations and procedures, and local medical procedures.
- Perform regular assigned shift duties.
- Maintain cleaning standards for stations, vehicles, and equipment.
- Complete detailed incident and accident reports in a timely manner at management's request.
- Use appropriate terminology and tone and follow all radio communication procedures.
- Drive company vehicles in accordance with company driving policies.
