About the Role
Tarsus is seeking a highly motivated Director of Program Management to play a vital role in advancing a growing pipeline through early and late-stage development. The Director of Program Management will be responsible for providing strong leadership and expertise within the PM department as well as across the organization to support cross-functional program deliverables. This candidate will have direct supervisory responsibilities for a team of high performing Program Managers with various levels of experience. Additionally, this role will partner with the Sr. Director, Program and Alliance Management to improve existing operational processes and grow PM capabilities to scale with an expanding pipeline.
The candidate will require excellent communication and emotional intelligence to help lead cross-functional stakeholders to achieve deliverables on-time and within budget. A successful candidate would have demonstrated, in previous experience, the ability to implement effective processes and innovative solutions to support efficiencies in the management of programs.

Let’s talk about some of the key responsibilities of the role:
- Drug development program management
- Leads cross-functional teams which include CMC, Clinical, Non-Clinical, Regulatory and Commercial, to define product development strategies to meet organizational goals.
- Provides project management expertise and support for clinical stage drug development programs and works in concert with cross-functional leads to deliver on program plans.
- Facilitates strategic discussions on scenario planning to enable core team and governance decision making.
- PM operations management
- Manages and leads the budgeting/forecasting process across R&D to ensure achievement of acceptable variances.
- Continuously monitors pipeline costs and aligns on justification of material cost changes with key stakeholders.
- Supports development and adherence to budget through pro-active identification and resolution of any program or resource issues.
- Manages the program dashboard reporting process by working with Program Managers and Program Leads to reflect material program updates.
- Ability to effectively present program status updates and strategic recommendations to Sr. Management.
- PM team leadership
- Direct supervisory responsibilities for a team of high-performing Program Managers with various levels of experience.
- Provides strong advocacy to support the career development of the PM team.
- Ensures implementation of effective processes and innovative solutions to support efficiencies in management of programs.
Factors for Success:
- Bachelor’s degree in life sciences, bioengineering or related field required. Master’s/MBA or PhD is a plus
- A minimum of 12-15 years of related work experience with a significant amount of experience in a biotech or pharmaceutical background
- Experience managing drug development programs from pre-clinical to Phase III studies is essential.
- Degree in a biopharmaceutical-related field (e.g., biology, chemistry, engineering, etc.)
- Ability to quickly pivot effectively regarding changing priorities with programs/resources.
- Proficient use of IT / project management tools (Outlook, Excel, MS Project)
- Established leadership track record with evidence of excellent people management experience, problem solving, collaboration, cross functional leadership and effective communication skills
- Excellent communication, influencing, stakeholder management and decision-making skills
- Strong project/program management foundation (PMP, PgMP preferred but not required)

At Tarsus, we understand the importance of attracting and retaining top talent. The expected base pay range for this position is $191,200 - $267,800 plus bonus, stock equity, and comprehensive benefits. The base pay range reflects the target range for this position, but individual pay will be determined by additional factors such as job-related skills, experience and relevant education or training.
