Requirements
  • At least 2 years of experience as an ophthalmology technician is ideal.
  • A high school diploma or equivalent is required.
  • Ability and willingness to provide an exceptional patient experience.
Responsibilities
  • Ensure that all forms are complete and pertinent information has been recorded.
  • Maintain outcome data.
  • Perform auto refractions, topographical mapping, wavefront analysis, lensometry, pachymetry, and visual acuity testing.
  • Evaluate and measure pupil size and responses; use a slit-lamp microscope and applanation tonometer; and properly instill eye drops.
  • Understand and operate all equipment and instruments used in the center, including equipment in the LASIK suite.
  • Provide preoperative and postoperative care and instructions.
  • Assist in surgery by preparing the laser room with supplies and sterilized equipment.
  • Stock medications and medical supplies by proactively planning the work week to complete required tasks.
  • Call to request preoperative and postoperative visits for surgery patients.
  • Order medical supplies.
  • Keep up with regular and emergency maintenance on medical equipment.
  • Assist in other areas as needed.
