Requirements
  • An Ohio Professional Engineering license is required.
  • A Bachelor of Science degree in Civil Engineering is required.
  • At least 15 years of experience is required.
  • Technical design expertise is required, including site layout, grading, stormwater management, erosion and sedimentation control, and site utility design.
  • An established client base and the ability to develop business for CEC are required.
  • Established relationships with industry professionals and regulators are required.
  • Proven experience managing and developing a consulting engineering team is required.
  • Experience with private-sector projects such as commercial land development, renewable energy and power generation, industrial and manufacturing development, and natural gas projects is required.
  • Experience with public-sector projects for local and state agencies is required.
Responsibilities
  • Collaborate with the Office Civil Practice Lead and Operations Lead to grow the Civil Practice in the Cleveland office.
  • Develop and strengthen relationships with prospective and existing clients to guide local and regional practice growth.
  • Guide external stakeholders through the regulatory environment.
  • Ensure the technical excellence of projects.
  • Develop and review proposals and project budgets.
  • Manage and mentor a team of engineers and project managers.
  • Perform final quality control and quality assurance.
  • Guide and lead a team of engineers through multifaceted civil engineering projects and business development initiatives.
  • Assist in recruiting and professionally developing staff.
  • Conduct annual performance reviews and establish development goals.
  • Participate in project management, leadership, business development initiatives, service offerings, and office and corporate initiatives.
Desired Qualifications
  • Leadership roles within professional industry groups are preferred.
  • An in-depth understanding of local and state land development regulations and processes, including zoning, stormwater management, and erosion and sedimentation control, is preferred.
  • A portfolio or list of past projects outlining key design elements and the candidate’s role in the projects is preferred.
  • The proven ability to build relationships, provide effective mentoring, and build team morale is preferred.
